Tablets and Smartphones: Smart Nannies?

The above picture is a familiar sight all over America and in Korea as well. I know life is much easier when your child is distracted by video games and movies, but how much is too much? That is the question I want to explore in my simulation.

I want to try to raise my 9 month old boy and his unborn siblings without using smartphones or tablets as a crutch. The problem is my wife and I both use our phones so often, my boy is already interested in it. What to do?

  1. I admire your choice of a project to research further, technology is a huge part of all of our lives on a daily basis. I think that technology can be so beneficial to children but we do see the negatives to it as well such as cyberbullying, childhood obesity, as well as the negative impact it can have on a child' s ability to have personal relationships and interact in real settings not just over emails. I worry as a parent too that it often teaches our children to be rude or disrespectful to others in situations where they are interacting with someone in person and only giving have of their attention because they are also having a conversation on their phone. That 's is my mother's biggest complaint, she often mentions how friendly people would often be at a grocery store and now they are too busy with a phone stuck to their heads or in their hands to even say hello. Do you have a certain area that you are most interested in finding out about? I look forward to reading your posts!
